BLAAAGGGh Post #2

Blog. While brainstorming blogs and possible entries others might find worth reading, it occurred to me that the word blog isn’t exactly the most attractive word in the English language. Not only is it the word-child of Blob and Dog, it also, if expelled in animated fashion, sounds like the first great heave of someone puking. 🤮 BLAAAHHHg. Yeah, not the most appealing word but one that aspiring anybodies must bring to life and draw attention to.

From whence did the BLOG originate. It’s common knowledge to plenty of people out in the great big world, but not to me. In consideration of starting a BLAAAAAHHHg, it seemed a good idea to know what I was getting myself into. So, of course, I Googled.

Long definition, short: the term blog evolved from the word weblog. Like a ship’s log, the term weblog was coined, in 1997, by a man who logged his journey and adventures through the new technological miracle of the internet. Too long a word for some (I guess?), weblog lost its WE and its dignity, the word broken and degraded, losing the flare of its once meaningful techiness.

Blogs eventually evolved into personal entries about whatever and are now used to build platforms and brands. The pasted link to this BLAAHHHg post gives more detail on this modern phenomenon. For my purpose, I am trying my hand and brain at the blog to blatantly lure people to me! Me!! MEEEEE!!! This is a way for readers, authors, and others who might stumble onto my website to get to know Kari A. Kovach, and the insights into my stories. In turn, I hope to get to know those who have taken an interest in me and the books I write through the comments below or email.

Building a platform. That’s my main objective but I promise it will never be dull. So, please read and share!

Here’s to the blog. Cheers!
