Book Signing Day

November 12, 2022 will go down in my personal history as a success!!! So,
let’s see: I woke up that morning excited and anxious. Excited because I was
about to experience my first book signing. Anxious because participating in a
book signing requires engagement and interaction with people. Combine living in
a motherhood bubble for 24 years (no regrets), teaching piano lessons to
children (my kind of people), moving to a new state, and Covid cutting off many
social opportunities, and an introverted hermit might be the product. I am out
of practice socializing and the idea of talking and pitching my book to random
people caused me some concern.

BUT what’s the worst that could happen? Maybe, someone asks what my book is
about and my mind goes blank. Or the answers to questions I memorize the night before spew from my mouth like partially digested and puked up alphabet soup.
Yeah, well, both scenarios happened, but I am not sad or frustrated about it.
Thankfully, the people who wanted to know more, were pleasant, congenial, and
accepted that they were the practice run for pitching my book. This practice
showcased good and bad points to my presentation and were noted. Feedback from friends and family has already guided what actions to take to spiffy up my pitch. Plenty of lessons learned.

And Marissa’s Books and Gifts… I cannot give enough thanks to the
establishment and those who made the book signing possible. An INCREDIBLE
bookstore! If you’re ever in the Salt Lake area, this bookstore will not
disappoint. Something for everyone there. Fabulous hosts. I hope to spend
future book signings there.

The best part of the signing: the friends and family who showed up; my
husband who worked as prop master, tech support, and candy-giver; my
out-of-town daughters even checked in every now and then through text, pride
and love evident in their encouragement.

My family is everything. I praise and thank God each day for them.

Oh, I did sell 9 books. Authors from the area even came in and supported
through their presence and purchases. I only hope my gratitude shined bright. So
appreciated. I began the day with 20 books in my possession. Through sales and handing extras out to bookstores, they were gone by the end of the day. HOORAY!!!

Was I an instant best-seller? NO. But it was a day filled with learning,
generosity, love, and accomplishment. Only positives. Can’t wait to participate
in another event. Oh yes, this will happen and I’ll keep you posted!

CHEERS to new experiences!
